The Mayor of Eastbourne, Councillor Candy Vaughan, welcomed representatives from Dortmund Carneval at the Lansdowne Hotel last Friday.
Peter and Eleonore Brockwell travelled over from Dortmund for the weekend, to meet with the Mayor and members of the Eastbourne Carnival Committee, and Richard Garland, past president of Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce, and Christina Eubank CEO of Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce.
Dortmund Carneval will be participating at the Eastbourne Carnival on 24th May 2025 – bringing members of a number of Carneval clubs – totalling over 40 people.
Peter presented the Mayor of Eastbourne with a gift from the Mayor of Dortmund, Thomas Westphal – a beautiful painting representing Dortmund.
Mina O’Brien, Chair of Eastbourne Carnival said “It has been a real pleasure helping to make arrangements for Dortmund Carneval to come over and participate in our Carnival in 2025. We are excited and looking forward to what we hope will be the start of a great relationship with our friends in Dortmund.”
Peter Brockwell, organiser of Närrischer Rat, and former Prince of Carneval, alongside his wife as Princess in 2016/17, said “It is a great pleasure to start the relationship with Eastbourne Carnival, and meet Mayor Candy Vaughan and Mina O’Brien. Our motto is ‘For each other, with each other’ and we hope this will be the start of a long relationship between our Carnivals for years to come”.
